Chicagoland is known for its harsh winters, but this past winter will go in the history books. Thankfully temperatures do seem to be rising, slowly but surely, and spring officially starts next week. Enjoy the warmer weather at these local DuPage County spots this spring!

Get Outside

You might not know it if you’re not from around here, but the Chicago suburbs have some fantastic areas to appreciate nature. For example, just across the street from Avant The Morton Arboretum is gorgeous all year round, but especially wonderful once the spring blooms arrive. If you’re wanting to experience both nature and history the Museums at Lisle Station Park, Graue Mill and Museum, and Mayslake Peabody Estate are great places to learn and explore.

Soak in the Sun and Sports

Hop on the Metra and head downtown to catch a White Sox or Cubs spring game. You could also take a short drive to Toyota Park in Bridgeview to catch the Chicago Fire or Chicago Red Stars soccer clubs’ games. Have a budding sports star or want to help your kid develop baseball or softball skills to get a head start on summer leagues? Check out the Bulls Sox Youth Academy for spring programs and Spring Break Camps. The local parks, like Lilacia Park in Lombard, also have tons to do for the whole family all season long.

Outdoor Eating

Lisle and the rest of DuPage County have some fantastic restaurants, many of which have outdoor seating! Enjoy Mardi Gras any day at Pappadeaux, taste some classic French cuisine at Mon Ami Gabi, or enjoy the springtime sun on the brunch patio of Egg Harbor Café. Head just down the road to Downers Grove for NY Pizza Pie where Avant at the Arboretum residents can enjoy a discount thanks to our Neighborhood Passport Program.
